About hermitsdoor

Up here in the mountains, we have a saying, "You can't get there from here", which really means "We wouldn't go the trouble to do that". Another concept is that "If you don't know, we ain't telling." For the rest, you'll have to read between the lines.

Photos cannot capture the magesty of the place… nor the height (must take the bus ride up the switch-backs, which makes you wonder why there is not a pile of buses at the bottom of the river). I did some calculating, while up at the top of the sanctuary area. If the city below (Agua Calientus) were sea-level, the bus stop at the entrance of the historic area would be about 1,600 ft, which is the height of the valley from which we turn to go up our mountain, and the terraces from which you decend to enter the village area is about 2,000 ft, which is were out cabin is. The village is about 25 acres, which would fit onto our property. But, all of this is at around 6,000 to 8,000 ft.
