State of the Union Address

Having just posted about JFK’s Inaugural Address last week, my ear listened to President Obama’s State of the Union Address a little more closely Tuesday night. Did anyone else follow this? I heard his speech writer’s draw upon several former president’s style: Kennedy’s call for cooperation, Regan’s pragmatism, and Clinton’s reform of government for the betterment of society. Was this grand oratory? Grandiose rhetoric? Re-election smoke and mirrors? Middle school social studies teacher frustrated with dull class? What is your analysis?

About hermitsdoor

Up here in the mountains, we have a saying, "You can't get there from here", which really means "We wouldn't go the trouble to do that". Another concept is that "If you don't know, we ain't telling." For the rest, you'll have to read between the lines.
